Thanks to all who have been out for our 2009 try outs! The team line ups will be announced soon but as of Tuesday August 26, tryouts are closed. Be sure to check out our upcoming events for information on the first of the season parent meeting.

I know all of you are anxious to see the 2009 Line Up. I'm sorry that due to extenuating circumstances I will not be able to post these on Saturday night. The line up will be posted by 7 p.m. Sunday night (or earlier).

Your patience and understanding is appreciated.

It was so nice to have the sort of turnout that we had at our parent meeting! Thanks to all of you who were there! Coach Alanna and I hope to see as many of you as possible at our upcoming matches!

Great first match win over El Capitan! The heat and humidity were wearing us down, but the girls were tough and started the season putting one in the WIN column!

Traveling to Coronado, the Varsity team pulled out a 10 - 8 win with Jazmin Ortiz and Emily Keach wining all three of their sets in singles with Emily's 3rd round singles win giving the Eagles their tenth set and a victory!

Our annual car wash will be on Saturday Sept. 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Please be sure to come out for the shift you signed up for. The car wash is at the El Cajon Elks Lodge at 1400 E. Washington Ave. Also be sure to bring one roll of paper towels

Please note that our Sept. 28 match vs. Vista is now a home match for both Varsity and Junior Varsity

Finally, remember that we'll be having pizza after practice on Monday Sept. 22 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Marecharios (off Old Highway 80). Bring $10 and your appetite.

At this point in the season, Varsity boasts a 7 - 0 record and Junior Varsity is 5 - 1. Now the tough matches begin, starting with Valhalla on Tuesday, long-time rivals, and Grossmont on Thursday. Hope to see everyone out to cheer us on!

Car Wash Update: We raised $830.00 on Saturday! Thanks to everyone for your help!

A GREAT win against Valhalla 10 - 8 to start off the league matches on a winning note. Jazmin and Emily won all three sets, Alexis had a key singles win, plus three key doubles wins gave the Eagles a 10 - 8 victory! We are gearing up for a VERY competitive season where every point and every game counts. Go Eagles!!!

Beginning the 2nd round of league play, the Varsity team continues to outplay their opponents with a decisive win over Valhalla. Jazmin in singles, Gabi Torres - Brooke Gandy in doubles combined to win 9 points for the Eagles. The Junior Varsity team defeated a once undefeated Valhalla JV team 11 - 7

Talk about a close match! The Eagles had their closest match of the year against Grossmont. It came down to the last doubles set with Melissa Mendez and Chelsea Smith against Grossmont's #3 doubles. Win the set and we tie in total sets. Lost the set and we lose the match 8 - 10. Melissa and Chelsea won 6 - 4 causing a tie in total sets won between Granite and Grossmont. We count games. . . Granite wins 80 - 67 in games!!! Way to fight until the end girls!

Team pictures will be taken on Wednesday Oct. 21 and Rancho San Diego golf course (Cottonwood). We will meet in the Senior parking lot at 3:00 p.m. and car pool there. Girls who can drive, can only drive themselves, not other players. We do need a lot of parent drivers - we have 60 girls on our team! If you can help, please email Patty or Alanna. Picture packets will be available at practice on Monday. Purchasing pictures is optional

Our girls banquet will be on Friday November 6th beginning at 6:30 p.m. At this banquet girls need to bring the dish they signed up for and their Secret Pal gift. The banquet is at Brooke Gandy's house. Her address is 1611 Rancho Judith, Alpine 91901

Our awards banquet will be on Thursday November 19th bginning at 6:30 p.m. The banquet will be held at the Ronald Reagan Community Center located in El Cajon at 195 E. Douglas Ave. The cost of the banquet is $15 per person. The menu will include: Meat Lasagna, Fettucine with Alfredo Sauce, Mediterranean Grilled Vegetables, Ceasar Salad, Rolls, Assorted Cookies and Brownies, Coffee, Tea, Water, Lemonade and Punch

Payment is needed in advance. Please pay Alanna or Patty (checks made payable to GH Girls Tennis Trust). You can also take a check to the front office and ask to have it put in Patty's mail box. Payment must be made by Friday November 13.

Granite Hills has never been short on team spirit! We know it, our opponents know it and now it's out there in cyberspace for the rest the world to know!

The Girls Banquet which was scheduled for Friday November 6 has been changed to Thursday November 5. We will still begin at 6:30 p.m. and no other changes are planned.

Congratulations to Leslie Taylor! She won the Junior Varsity Singles title defeating the number 1 player at Valhalla!

Also, Chandler Glaze and Ashley Soto got to the semi-finals before losing to a tough Valhalla team.
